The easiest way to compare makhana is to check what the pack contains, how much you get and what the whole order will cost. A beautiful pouch can help you spot a flavour; the details should help you decide whether it suits you.

1. Match the pack to the occasion

Are you buying an ingredient for a recipe or a finished snack? Makhana is used in both savoury dishes and sweets, and the popped kernel itself is already produced through processing. If you want to add your own seasoning, inspect the ingredient list for an unseasoned option. If you want something to open at your desk, check the product's ready-to-eat description. Do not infer preparation instructions from the picture alone.

2. Read the information behind the flavour name

Look for the ingredient list, allergen declaration, nutrition panel, net quantity and date information. These are among the food-label particulars covered in FSSAI's Food Safety Officer manual. Use the actual pack information when choosing a product, especially when you have an ingredient restriction. Source: FSSAI Food Safety Officer manual.

“Peri peri” or “masala” tells you a flavour direction. It does not tell you the full seasoning recipe, the oil used or the allergens. If a product page leaves out information you need, ask the seller before buying.

3. Compare grams as well as rupees

Use this simple calculation: price ÷ net grams × 100 = price per 100 g. It makes different pack sizes easier to compare. Keep the product type in mind, because a raw ingredient, a seasoned snack and a gift box offer different things.

For example, our proposed ₹149 flavour pack contains 60 g, giving a preview unit price of ₹248.33 per 100 g. The proposed Discovery Trio is ₹399 for 180 g, or ₹221.67 per 100 g before shipping. These are preview calculations, not final commercial prices.

4. Read every line of a bundle

A six-pack may contain three flavours twice rather than six different flavours. A larger outer box does not tell you the food quantity. Check the number of packs, grams per pack and flavour counts, and compare the bundle with the cost of the same singles.

Our planned Pantry Six is two Sea Salt, two Peri Peri and two Chatpata Masala packs at 60 g each. That is 360 g in total. Pudina is in the Discovery Trio, not in Pantry Six.

5. Check the delivered total and storage directions

Add any shipping charge before deciding which option is better value. For our preview, the shipping estimate is ₹49 below ₹599 and free at or above ₹599; delivery coverage and final terms will be confirmed before sales begin.

When you receive a real order, inspect the pack and follow its date and storage instructions. Keep the seller's contact details handy if a seal is damaged or the product does not match what was advertised. For Namaste Makhana, those final product and service details are still being prepared.
