To check an online makhana listing, first match its flavour, pack size and pack count to the label you have. Record the page and label separately, with their sources and check dates. Then mark each detail as matching, different or unknown. A missing photograph or conflicting line creates a question to resolve; it does not establish the cause.

Make sure the two sources describe the same pack

Save the listing URL, seller name, selected option and date checked. If changing a size or flavour changes the page, capture the selected option as well as the heading. Give the screenshot a short reference, such as “Page A”.

For “Label B”, record whether you have your own physical packet, a manufacturer-supplied label image or a retailer photograph. Copy the food name, flavour and net quantity. A gallery image with no readable identity is an uncertain match. Concept artwork is not an actual finished label.

Do not compare a single pouch with an outer bundle, or one flavour's panel with another's. Keep seller, manufacturer and packer roles separate; different names in different roles are not automatically a contradiction. If identity cannot be matched, stop the comparison and request the correct label.

Copy this comparison worksheet

Use one record per selected product. Write exact text or a photo reference in both evidence columns. For an unreadable or unavailable field, say so. This is a copyable note, not an upload form or a complete list of legal requirements.

Record header: Page A URL/seller/selected option/check date: ____
Label B source/food/flavour/weight/check date: ____
Identity match confirmed, uncertain or different: ____

Keep both pieces of evidence beside the question
DetailPage A evidenceLabel B evidenceStatusQuestion to resolve
Food name and selected flavour____________Do both sources identify this option?
Grams per pouch and number of pouches____________Is each figure for one pouch or the whole offer?
Complete ingredient text____________Is either line cut off or from another variant?
A nutrition value you want to compareValue/unit/basis: ____Value/unit/basis: ________Are the units and reference amounts the same?
Preparation or storage instruction____________Which wording applies to this pack?
Another detail important to your choice____________What exact information is still needed?

Use matches only when the recorded detail agrees on the same basis; differs when comparable details conflict; and unknown when evidence is missing, unreadable or cannot be matched. These describe your record, not a product's safety or legal status.

A fictional example: three different findings

Invented exercise only. No real seller, listing or label was inspected for this example; it does not describe Namaste Makhana. Imagine that both sources identify “Example Flavour, 75 g”.

Three observations from an invented comparison
DetailPage ALabel BUseful conclusion
Net quantity75 g per pouchNet quantity: 75 gMatches for this recorded detail.
Ingredient lineImage cuts off halfwayComplete line is readableUnknown on Page A; request the complete current text.
After-opening instructionWithin 7 daysWithin 5 daysDiffers; ask which instruction applies to the offered pack.

The invented day counts are not storage advice. The record does not explain why the instructions differ. An older image, a changed product or a listing error would each need evidence; do not select an explanation from the discrepancy alone.

Why an online blank needs context

FSSAI's regulation 4(2) requires applicable label information through appropriate means before an online food sale, while excluding batch/lot identifiers and best-before, use-by, expiry, manufacture and packing dates from that provision. That is a specific pre-sale exception, not a general exemption from labelling. Original regulations, page 29; compendium, page 4.

Record where you looked: description, selected option, image gallery or a linked information panel. “I could not find it in these places” is more precise than “the seller has never provided it”. Do not invent a batch date from an old photograph. The worksheet cannot decide compliance across all applicable rules.

Close the record with evidence

Send the seller the selected product reference and the exact unresolved row. Ask for the current matching label or clarification of the two quoted lines. Keep the reply, its date and any replacement image beside the original record. If the response does not answer the question, leave the status unresolved; a reassurance is not the missing text.

Once the information is available, our ingredient-list walkthrough explains grouped seasonings, and how to choose makhana covers the buying comparison. For a delivered pouch's condition, use the separate arrival worksheet.

Namaste Makhana's packaging images remain concepts and approved product labels have not been published. This guide does not fill that gap. See launch information for the current status, or contact us about an unresolved catalogue question.
